Augmented microscopy: Development and application of high-resolution optoacoustic and multimodal imaging techniques for label-free biological observation
High-resolution optoacoustic imaging is a new and promising laser-microscopy technique. In this dissertation, a hybrid optoacoustic and multiphoton microscope was developed for label-free observation. Furthermore, an optoacoustic frequency-domain implementation based on simple and cost-effective hardware was designed and applied to measurements of microcirculatory blood flow in mice for the first time. Additionally, optoacoustic mesoscopy was used for the 3D-monitoring of pigment dynamics in living fish.
