In this retrospective study, data were collected and compared between children with Noonan syndrome and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (N-HCM) and children with familial, non-syndromic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy caused by mutations in structural proteins of the sarcomere (S-HCM). N-HCM patients initially presented with higher morbidity during the early course of the disease compared to S-HCM patients, but they showed favorable long-term outcome with a relative regression of myocardial hypertrophy and a lower rate of ICD-implantation.
