A prospective and monetary effectiveness assessment is beneficial to both insurance and automotive industry to develop, evaluate, and optimize effective driver assistance systems. In this thesis, parking and maneuvering is considered due to its monetary relevance. To assess the prospective effectiveness of a driver assistance system, a test protocol has been developed. In combination with evaluating of pre-crash data from naturalistic driving studies, the field-projected effectiveness may be derived. In addition, a method for effectiveness assessment using simulations and validated through realistic experiments is presented.
