Abstract:
Working in teams on solving complex tasks is common in today’s organizations. Yet, teams are not always able to realize their full potential. This thesis combines ethnographic observation with grounded theory methods to investigate group-related reasons for the inclusion of ideas in the work results of project teams. Regardless of the actual value of an idea, we have found that individual behaviors and group dynamics have a decisive influence on idea inclusion. This study suggests that efforts to better manage group dynamics are an important means of improving a team’s result.
