Within this thesis, the synthesis of silicon-centered radicals and disilenes is described. The isolated compounds are evaluated regarding their suitability for the application in batteries. Furthermore, the reactivity of these low-coordinate silicon species is investigated in small molecule activation studies. Among the obtained compounds are trisilyl- and unprecedented N-heterocyclic imino-substituted silyl radicals. Furthermore, stable iminodisilenes and their isomerization reactions are presented.
