This present thesis is dealing with current challenges in stability assessment of OER catalysts in PEM water electrolysis, since lifetimes measured by one commonly used technique, namely RDE (rotating ring disk electrode), differ significantly from the ones obtained using a membrane electrode assembly (MEA). A thorough analysis of different stability protocols often used in RDE measurements shows that, the RDE technique cannot be used to reliably predict the lifetime of OER catalysts. Therefore, an accelerated stress test (AST) for an MEA configuration is proposed.
