Kurzfassung:
This dissertation provides new mechanistic and chemical insights regarding the tremendous field of olefin polymerization catalysis. Beside the elucidation of essential structure property relationships between the metallocene catalyst and the final polymer properties, the impact of varying group IV (Ti, Zr, Hf) metal centers represents a central objective of this work. In this context, combined theoretical and experimental investigation of the M−C σ-bond of isostructural, group IV metallocenes for the first time clarifies the electronic and chemical situation that finally determines the resulting polymerization behavior.
