Kurzfassung:
Croconaines improve on the thermal stability, photobleaching resistance, solvatochromism, and spectral tenability shortcomings of most common organic dyes. However, most of the proposed croconaine derivatives suffer from H-aggregation, modest chemical instability, and low solubility and are therefore not suitable for in vivo applications. Here we synthesized three stable NIR-absorbing croconaine nanoparticles with different maximum absorption wavelengths, which are used for efficient optoacoustic imaging and photothermal therapy of tumors.
