In autoimmune thrombocytopenia (AITP), platelets are destroyed by immunological processes. Due to the insufficient performance of established diagnostic assays, many patients are misdiagnosed. In this thesis, a new assay format for the detection of autoantibodies against platelet receptors in AITP was developed and tested. For this purpose, platelet receptor constructs were expressed recombinantly and integrated into lipid bilayer nanodiscs. A validation with 150 human serum samples showed that the novel assay can differentiate patient samples from control samples.
