The morbidity and mortality caused by coronary artery disease is a major public health issue. Novel approaches are needed to improve diagnosis at a population level. Myocardial revascularization with coronary stenting or bypass surgery improves outcomes but is limited by late failure, which is challenging to manage. This thesis investigates a novel strategy of diagnosis of coronary artery disease, mechanisms of stent failure, polymer-free stents for prevention of late stent failure, and management of stent and bypass graft failure.
