As a result of the shortage of organs in postmortem organ donation living kidney donation is becoming more and more important. In this dissertation german register data of 2248 living kidney donors are evaluated and compared to evidence from international data collections. Characteristics of the donors and their influence on the kidney function postoperative and in the long term are presented. Furthermore, an analysis of the development of the blood pressure after nephrectomy and the impact of body mass index on the kidney function of living kidney donors are shown.
