At Steinecker’s, the precoating filtration, especially with alternative filtering aids, is considered a trend-setting technology. The most significant novelty of the Twin Flow System is the register, a piping system in which all vertical filter elements are mounted and from which the filtrate is drained off. The whole filter vessel is unfiltered volume and can be flowed through. A fluidically optimised filtering system is created by means of a bypass which, as a result, shows process engineering and technological advantages. A test stand with one filter bar enabled numerous perceptions as to the disadvantages of conventional filtering systems and the advantages of the new TFS. The design of the TFS is optimally adjusted to the fluidic conditions of precoat filtration. Tests with a pilot filter with a capacity of 85 hl/h in a large German brewery have backed up the development on a working scale. To be able to proceed on the market, knowledge of consumption data, set-up times and technological analyses is indispensable. Besides in clarifying filtration the TFS can also be used in the stabilisation of beer with PVPP. Here, the filter demonstrates highest reliability during separation and regeneration of the filtering aid and convinces by low operating costs.
