Bei 44 Patientinnen wurde ein direkter Vergleich der Methoden beim präoperativen Staging durchgeführt und mit dem Ergebnis der histopathologischen Aufarbeitung korreliert. (MRT: Gyroscan mit 1,5 Tesla, CT: Somatom S) Beim präoperativen Staging des Zervixkarzinomes war die MRT der CT deutlich überlegen. In der CT zeigte sich eine deutliche Neigung zum overstaging, die auch durch optimierte technische Durchführung und sagittale Rekonstruktionen nicht beeinflussbar war. Für das präoperative Staging des Endometriumkarzinoms war die MRT der CT ebenfalls überlegen; beide Verfahren zeigten jedoch erhebliche Differenzen zum Ergebnis der histopathologischen Aufarbeitung. Beim Staging des Ovarialkarzinoms waren die Methoden etwa gleichwertig. Die Patienten bevorzugten etwa gleich verteilt jeweils CT oder MRT.     «

The accuracy of Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) performed at 1.5 Tesla were compared in preoperative staging of Cervical Carcinoma (14 Pat.), Endometrial Carcinoma (15Pat.) and Ovarian Carcinoma (15 Pat.) All patiens had both examinations, the results were compared to the histopathological findings in all. For Patients with Cervical Carcinoma (CC) and Endometrial Carcinoma (EC) sagittal CT-Reconstructions were available. MRI was superior in staging CC. Due to reduced soft tissue contrast CT resulted in severe overstaging. MRI was superior in staging EC, too for the same reason and the superior quality of sagittal images. Staging Ovarian Tumors was equal with both methods. There were surprising differences to the histopathological "Gold Standard" in many patients.     «
