In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden die Daten von 1.334 Varizellen-Patienten aus Deutschland nach epidemiologischen und gesundheitsökonomischen Aspekten ausgewertet und mit Ergebnissen internationaler Studien zu diesem Thema verglichen. Epidemiologische Erkenntnisse beziehen sich unter anderem auf die Altersverteilung (mehr als 90% der Patienten sind bei Erkrankung jünger als 13 Jahre) und auf Komplikationen der Varizellenerkrankung (Komplikationsrate: 5,85 %). Gesundheitsökonomisch lassen sich die Kosten der Varizellenerkrankung in Deutschland beziffern: Volkswirtschaftliche Kosten ca 130 Mio Euro p.a., Kosten für die Krankenkassen ca 70 Mio Euro p.a.. Durch eine Varizellenimpfung in Deutschland könnte man eine beträchtliche Kostenersparnis erreichen: Für die Volkswirtschaft ca. 77 Mio Euro p.a., für die Krankenkassen ca. 20 Mio Euro p.a.. Durch eine Impfung entstehen auch medizinische Vorteile, wie z.B. seltenere bzw. weniger schwere Varizellen-Infektionen.     «

In this assignment the data of 1,334 varicella-patients from Germany were analysed relating to epidemiological and health-economical aspects and were compared to results of international studies. Epidemiological results were for example the age distribution (more than 90% of patients are younger than 13 years at the moment of infection), and the percentage of complications (5.85%). Health-economical costs of varicella-disease in Germany: costs of societal perspective (130 million Euro p.a.), health-insurance costs (70 million Euro p.a.). The varicella-vaccination in Germany would be very cost-effectiv. The saving of costs for the societal perspective is 77 million Euro p.a., and for the health-insurance 20 million Euro p.a.. The varicella-vaccination would bring also medical benefits as less or less severe varicella-infection.     «
