The thesis is on the construction of reality based on the perceptions of the subject and the resulting potential for the production of a new spatial paradigm created through indeterminate space. Methods for the creation of spatial indeterminacy are explored thereby opening up greater possibility for personal interpretation of space through virtual debordering. Based upon the citation and analyis of historical precedents of visual debordering of space, new methods, created through the modulation of light, are explored. The research is based upon pertinent examples of contemporary art as they pertain to light modulation and how these principals and phenomena can extend into and inform the real production of space.
