Commentary of “Strengthening Qualified Teacher Status and Improving Career Progression for Teachers” in Britain

How to guarantee the teacher career development has always been one of the key concerns in Britain. In the past two years, Britain had actively learned the advanced experience from other countries about the reforms in teacher education and teacher career development, and tried to carry out the related measures, so as to further promote the development of the teacher career in Britain. In December 2017, Britain launched the “Strengthening Qualified Teacher Status and Improving Career Progression for Teachers” reform document. The reform measures include the addition of six new teacher standards, the extension of new teachers’ induction period, the introduction of teacher apprenticeship, and the definition of different types of professional development paths for in-service teachers.
