- Abstract:
- In three empirical studies, this dissertation investigates the potential of blockchain technology to reshape the digital economy. The first two studies show that smart contract-based web applications cannot replace trust but lead to a new kind of trust based on deductive rather than inductive knowledge. The third study demonstrates that decentralizing a digital platform can lead to unintended discrimination of platform complements.

- Diese Dissertation untersucht in drei Studien das Potenzial von Blockchain Technologie die digitale Ökonomie zu verändern. Die ersten beiden Studien zeigen, dass Smart Contract-basierte Webanwendungen Vertrauen nicht ersetzten, sie aber zu einer neue Art von Vertrauens führen, das nicht auf induktivem, sondern auf deduktivem Wissen basiert. Die Dritte Studie zeigt, dass die Dezentralisierung einer digitalen Plattform zu einer ungewollten Diskriminierung von Komplementärgütern führt kann.
