This paper for the first time presents a fast and practical approach for the co-calibration of endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and video images from a single image pair. At comparable accuracy, it achieves a significantly higher precision than a reference method based on combining electromagnetic tracking with two standard calibration techniques (hand-eye and single-wall calibration). Its resulting calibration matrix can be utilized in navigated bronchoscopy to allow easier EBUS manipulation and positioning.
