This work deals with the topic of reciprocal structures. The aim of the work is to provide a general overview of the assembly and to refer to the possible advantages and disadvantages. The influencing basic parameters are defined and described. An insight into the historical development is given, in which the basic influences of history are shown. Furthermore, the approaches to form finding are explained, such as the translation, rotation and cell-based method. Regarding the analytical approach, the genetic algorithm according to Baverel is examined and presented. Finally, the possible research directions will be discussed that may be of interest in the future.
