Es ist bekannt, dass die Körperposition direkten Einfluss auf die Respiratio nimmt; so wird u.a. die Seitenlage als Therapie des OSAS genutzt. Um zu eruieren ob die Linksseitenlage das Auftreten respiratorischer Komplikationen reduziert, wurden je 206 Patienten in Linksseiten- und Rückenlage unter Propofolsedierung koloskopiert. Dabei reduzierte die Linksseitenlage die Anzahl respiratorischer Komplikationen bei ansonsten gleichwertigem Outcome. Daher sollten Koloskopien, wenn möglich, in Seitenlage durchgeführt werden.      «

Cardiorespiratory events may occur during colonoscopy. It is known that body position affects the respiratory function directly; e.g. lateral position is recommended for people suffering from OSAS. To evaluate the impact of the left lateral position in avoiding hypoxemic events 406 patients undertook colonoscopy with propofol sedation either in the supine or in the left lateral position (1:1). The left lateral position led to a significant reduction of hypoxemic events and thus should be recommended for future examinations.     «
