This work covers different aspects of filter bank based multicarrier systems. First, we present the basic theory, fundamental operations, efficient structures for the realization of the system and a complexity analysis. Then, schemes for channel estimation are derived based on appropriate subcarrier models. Also methods to compensate and mitigate the effects of the propagation channel are presented. An extension from single-input-single-output to multiple-input-multiple-output is also discussed in this work.
