Social development theory claims that social interactions play a key role in learning. This dissertation has developed several serious games patterns, in particular the synchronization point and motivational leaderboard pattern, to increase social interaction in serious games. These patterns were empirically evaluated in several experiments with up to 306 participants. The results demonstrate that the synchronization point pattern increases collaboration and the motivational leaderboard pattern increases retention and performance significantly.     «

Der sozialen Entwicklungstheorie zufolge spielen soziale Interaktionen eine wichtige Rolle beim Lernen. In dieser Dissertation wurden mehrere Patterns für Lernspiele entwickelt, insbesondere das Synchronisationspunkt-Muster und das Motivierende Leaderboard-Muster, die soziale Interaktionen in Lernspielen erhöhen. Die Muster wurden in mehreren Experimenten mit bis zu 306 Teilnehmern empirisch evaluiert.
