This thesis presents methods for the localization of passive and active UHF RFID transponders. For each technology, a system is implemented and evaluated taking into account real applications. The active system relies on a sensor fusion with GPS and is designed for long-range localization tasks. On the other hand, the passive system is realized by means of conventional angle of arrival estimation. The determination of a multi-dimensional position is possible by the additional evaluation of signal strength or phase.
