Right now, the building industry moves on to the next generation regarding building representations. The change can be compared to the last one in this area where CAD replaced the classic drawing board but now Building Information Modeling is about to replace CAD. The BIM-method uses three-dimensional, digital building models with geometric and semantic information who are supposed to be the new basis of the planning and building process. The method is used to improve coopera-tion between all parties involved which then increases efficiency and quality. To share information, which is generated with BIM, between different companies, neu-tral data formats are needed. This Bachelor’s thesis analyzes the transition of a Building Information Model with the open data format of the Industry Foundation Classes. Therefore, the model of a parking garage will be analyzed which was pro-vided as IFC-file for the research project BIMsite by the chair of Computational Mod-eling and Simulation of the Technical University of Munich. The second main part of this thesis is about Level of Development. They define how far a building model is completed at a certain time. To explain the LOD-structure, the parking garage will be remodeled as less detailed copy and will then be compared to the original model re-garding LOD. The modeling is done by using the BIM-software Autodesk Revit 2016.     «
