Research focusing on urban trees and their services is a recent field of science. This thesis deals with the species Tilia cordata and Robinia pseudoacacia. An overview of growth in various age classes was generated, illustrating the lifecycle of both species. A study over the drought summer 2015 revealed significant relationships of the microclimate with the growth of T. cordata. Most pronounced effects had transpiration, indicating a trade-off between growth, transpiration and cooling. Further, three ecosystem services were calculated, highlighting the role of urban trees for moderating the climate, contributing to climate change mitigation in urban areas.
