In recent years energy efficiency of automatic small parts warehouses with stacker cranes has become the focus of attention. In order to allow an investigation of the energy demand a mathematical-physical model is derived and a simulation model is created. Hereby, the influence of system parameters on the energy demand is quantified. In order to enable calculation of the average energy requirement, a calculation approaches are developed. Finally, a methodology for evaluating the energy efficiency of stacker cranes in automatic small parts warehouses is presented.
