Abstract:
Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) is an important cause of morbidity/mortality in critically ill patients with hematological malignancies. New diagnosis strategies include the noninvasive biomarkers 1,3-beta-D-glucan (BDG) and serum galactomannan (GM).For early detection of IPA, we compared BDG Fungitell assay with GM Platelia assay.Twenty-two out of 30 patients (74 %) had elevated BDG levels (mean 306 pg/ml) beyond the cutoff of 80 pg/ml. GM levels were elevated in only 3 patients (10 %) o...     »
