Supramolecular structures have emerged as appealing enzyme-like catalysts. In this context, we identified the hexameric resorcinarene capsule as an ideal candidate. The capsule was found to act as a mild Brønsted acid. Based on this finding, we reported the first example of a successful tail-to-head terpene cyclization inside a supramolecular structure. Moreover, the differences in the encapsulation behavior and the catalytic activity between the capsule and a structurally related one were elucidated.
