To analyze the influence of the type I interferons during the inflammation and regeneration process in the adult murine pancreas, we generated p48Cre/+; Ifnarfl/fl mice. The induction of a pancreatitis led to a locally limited inflammation mediated by a premature infiltration of macrophages. This suggested an important role of the type I interferons in the development of a pro-inflammatory microenvironment through the inhibition of cytokines and chemokines; these are crucial mediators of the activation and recruitment of macrophages.      «
