Increasing demands in terms of CO
2 emissions require lightweight design in the car body structure and thus the use of thin-walled high pressure die casting components as connection parts. Due to their large dimensions those casting components show process-induced distortions. The developed simulation methods enable the compensation of the distortions during the HPDC process by inversive die modifications as well as the improvement of the dimensional accuracy by the simulation-based selection and dimensioning of the casting parts' support during the heat treatment process.
