Efficient algorithms for electromagnetic imaging based on the generation of volumetric equivalent source and scattering representations are presented. The algorithms are formed due to the principles of hierarchical field representations with concurrent localization in spatial and spectral domain, respectively. Field observations of radiated or scattered fields can be arbitrarily located and oriented in the near- or far-field of the imaging domain while the radiation characteristics of the employed field probes are correctly considered.
