Devices, that are capable of performing open and closed loop control tasks are increasingly used in the field of automation systems. Thus, the problems of software engineers are increasing significantly in complexity, since the (until then) fixed allocation between the control code and the execution environment is undone. In this work, a description method that diminishes the complexity of the architecture model of distributed automation systems is developed and evaluated. The reduction of complexity is reached by a role concept and the separation of implementation and functionality.
