This Master Thesis brings an insight into the application of Building Information Mode-ling (BIM), especially 4D-method, in infrastructure construction projects. 4D-method represents the linking of construction time information to the existing 3D-model, which contributes a model-based construction simulation that will optimize the construction schedule in the early design phase and bring benefits to the construction phase. The process of 4D-method, especially three specific ways of linking, will be presented and evaluated. An example pilot project “B299, Umbau der „Brandkeuzung in Beilngries in einen Kreis-verkehr” using the method will be introduced, which involves creating a construction scheduling plan and linking the construction scheduling plan to the 3D-model. Problems and difficulties during the implementation will be evaluated and pos-sible suggestions for future application will be given. Although the implementation of BIM in infrastructure construction projects, especially BIM 4D, is still under develop-ment, the existing studies and practical application shows great advantage and poten-tial. With more development, BIM 4D will bring its full potential in construction planning and management.
