The engineer has to deal with a lot of information during the product development. This information is generally connected to parts, functions, basic physical effects, variants and others. Common solutions in handling information of a product are focusing on PDM-Solution but do not support the early phases of the product development. This is dificult to support because the variety of problem solving is as large as the number of problem solvers. To enable the engineer to get an overview about the current situation, PDM-Systems support him in visualizing all information in one illustration. At the end this qualifies the engineer to react quickly by defining the design space and solving problems in the sense of trouble shooting. This paper mentions common modeling techniques (e.g. TRIZ, SADT). The individuality is here connected to the problem solver. The individual model should further support the engineer in the handling of information connected to the product. By doing so one can draw the visualisation of information and accelerate the problem solving process since the analysis is already done. The paper closes with an example of industry where different information is brought together to one individual product model. Furthermore a critical discussion reveals the complexity of the intention and shows further activities to reach a holistic approach.
