An optoacoustic system for high resolution mesoscopic imaging and novel optoacoustic raster scanning and tomography setups based upon the system were developed. The system was applied for non-invasive imaging of vasculature throughout entire mouse tumors in-vivo, and for imaging other specimen, like phantoms, 0.8mm thin zebrafish and Gammarus. Studies targeted, i.a., the biodistribution of nanoparticles. A volumetric validation method based on micro-CT imaging of stained samples was investigated.
