Abstract:
The Wave Based Method (WBM) is applied in order to simulate the field response of a 2D elastodynamic halfspace under harmonic loading. The structure is coupled with a filled trench in order to reduce vertical displacement amplitudes behind the trench at the surface due to a Rayleigh wave. Moreover, the WBM is extended by a second irrotational potential, in order to comply with Biot’s theory for a fully saturated poroelastic medium.
