In this dissertation, based on a detailed literature research of the jump characteristics in skijumping, a biomechanical system to evaluate the quality of the jumping performance was developed, evaluated and an investigation with the participation of 90% of the German national skijumping team (n=27 athlete) was accomplished. The field investigation was completed by a laboratory force diagnostic. According to these research results a minimum of vertical jump intensity at the skijumping hill is demanded on the one hand, on the other hand high correlations between the laboratory and the field diagnostics are detected. In the future it is necessary to do combined investigations in the laboratory and in the field more often.
