Central feature of the researched hybrid drive line is the application of a continuously variable transmission with a wide spreading the i²-gearbox. The characteristic shift process by i²-gearbox is to be realised as a power shift process without traction force interruption. The implementation and optimisation of such power shift processes was not been researched extensively so far and is investigated within the scope of this dissertation. By theoretical considerations and computer-aided simulation shifting strategies could be defined. Also appropriate parameter for a safer and more comfortable power shift process could be found. On the test rig (norm driving cycles) and in the prototype vehicle (public road traffic) all of the existing shift processes in vehicle transmission systems have been systematically investigated and optimised by the variation of parameters. Tests and simulation results indicated a very high influence of transmission ratio controller performance and dynamics on the shifting comfort.
