How can landscape architecture benefit from filmmaking as a landscape analysis tool? This question compels this study to dive into a multidisciplinary approach to filmic analysis. It uses the existing research done by Truniger as a basis for establishing its theories on filmic analysis. To do so, the book Filmic Mapping and an expert interview with Truniger are synthesised into four main theoretical approaches to the method of filmic analysis. The method is analysed using the topics of perception change, artistic research, subjectivity, and narration. Additional practical research is done in the form of an exemplary filmic analysis. The empirical and theoretical knowledge is then used to articulate a possible approach to filmic analysis and discuss its role and application for landscape architecture. The study concludes that the method is a situational analysis tool for landscape architects that embraces subjective and phenomenological landscape perception and can augment a classic landscape analysis. Further, it is a method well-suited to discuss landscape theory.
