In this paper, a weighting-factor-less model predictive direct power control (MP-DPC) algorithm is proposed for the three-level NPC rectifier. Despite two vectors need to be sequentially performed in some cases in a control period, the switching frequency just increases a few because there is a half chance that the two vectors may be the exact same one in the proposed algorithm. Moreover, in the steady-state operation, only one vector is enough for the control of the whole system. With the proposed algorithm, the complex tuning process of the weighting factor has been eliminated. The obtained simulation results have verified the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
