The purpose of this thesis is to improve the integration between CAD and CAE.
Meshing technologies to obtain a FE-mesh with the shape of a CAD model are available,
while instead the inverse step is still a challenge.
In the context of shape optimization, it is possible to modify the shape of a CAD model,
obtaining at the end of the process a FE-mesh with the optimized shape. Nevertheless, one
would need a CAD model resembling the optimized shape.
This work presents two approaches to obtain a smooth CAD matching the shape of a mesh.
