In this work, one way to perform the static structural analysis of isotropic membranes is explained, implemented and illustrated with examples. A Nonlinear Continuum Mechanics based approach is used for the study of this kind of structures. A St. Venant Kirchhoff constitutive model is chosen. An iterative procedure based on the Newton Raphson Scheme and the Finite Element Method is used to solve approximately the variational equation that rules the mechanical behavior of this type of structures. A complete nonlinear finite element program is implemented in Matlab and used later for the calculation of the mentioned examples.
