This work is focused on the determination and analysation of radionuclide inventories of materials activated by accelerator radiation induced activation at CERN. Representative irradiation parameter sets were worked out, i.e. reference material compositions, irradiation spectra as well as common irradiation and cool-down periods. It was studied whether the detection limit of a total gamma scintillation counter is sufficiently low to reliably detect the radioactivity that corresponds to the Swiss clearance limits for the determined radionuclide inventories.
