This thesis provides practical support for the design of user experiences mediated through complex, tangible consumer products, specifically in early design phases. Positive user experiences have a growing importance for customers and industry. However, a lack of formal ways to design positive user experiences was identified in literature and current practices at the beginning of this research. Therefore, a scenario-based methodology was developed and assessed iteratively in three case studies in the automobile and household appliance domains.
