Subject of this Bachelor thesis are the load phenomena on buildings introduced by winds. In this context the cause of wind, its characteristics and its statistical presentation will be explained. Furthermore, within the practical part an intensive analysis of the influence and determination of wind loads on buildings are carried out in accordance with the DIN 1055-4 and DIN EN 1991-1-4 standards. For this reason two Excel tools are developed in order to make the day-to-day work with wind loads more comfortable as well as to provide assistance with the optimisation of systems. Finally, the practical work will be analysed, whereby the differences in the methods of calculation between the DIN 1055-4 and DIN EN 1991-1-4 standards will be presented in detail. To give a comfortable access to the use of the Excel tools, the determination of wind loads for buildings with a rectangular cross section will be described in a step-by-step approach. In addition, the appendix offers assistance as well. In a second step a sample calculation of wind loads on a hall building is shown. In conclusion it can be stated out, that even though the formulations concerning the determination of wind loads are often identical, the calculations according to DIN EN 1991-1-4 are more precisely and therefore less conservative compared to DIN 1055-4.
