As a result, this doctoral thesis provides a process model, whereby physical, informational and human process interfaces can be registered, analyzed and designed according to lean aspects in a structured format. Based on the characteristics of a lean interface, strategies and principles, which create the theoretical fundament for the optimization of interfaces, can be derived. Finally, the principles are operationalized by a demonstration of concrete recommendations for the automotive everyday business.
