Structural modeling is one of the concepts to
handle the complexity of technical products in systems
engineering. In the modeling process the choice of the abstraction
level and grade of detail are influenced by uncertainties. Current
methods support the identification of erroneous elements or
dependencies, but support to identify the adequate abstraction
level for these elements is missing. This paper presents an
approach to identify the adequate level of abstraction. It uses
domain mapping matrices and matrix multiplication to support
the adjustment of the level of abstraction picking up the results of
the approach of verifying the level of abstraction. The approach
is applied within an industrial case study.
