Modern fly-by-wire flight control systems reduce the pilot’s workload by providing excellent flying and handling qualities and thus can increase the flight safety significantly. To make these benefits accessible to the general aviation sector, too, an integrated control concept for the lateral motion of Future Small Aircraft is proposed. Besides a generalized controller structure, an intuitive method for the gain design as well as a technique to proof robust stability characteristics for qualification and certification is developed.
