The aesthetic appeal of fair face concrete components or structures is largely determined by the appearance of the fair face concrete surface as an architectural design feature. For this reason, discolorations visible on fair-face concrete surfaces are considered as blemishes and often perceived as defects.
The work is focused on researching the phenomenon of mottled dark discolorations, which particularly occur when using non-absorbent formwork facings and, even more significantly, when producing fair face concrete surfaces in winter.
Finally, appropriate recommendations for preventing or reducing mottled dark discoloration are made for building practice based on the findings of the scientific studies.
