Die Ursache des Bachforellensterbens ist bis dato noch ungeklärt. Da vorangegangene Untersuchungen keine Übertragbarkeit dieser „Krankheit“ zeigten, wurde mit Hilfe von MTT-Tests auf der Basis von Bachforellenleberzellen, Vero- und Hep2-Zellen geprüft, inwieweit toxische Inhaltsstoffe des Wassers der Iller dafür verantwortlich sein könnten. Die Sensitivität des Testsystems wurde mit 17 bekannten mikrobiellen Toxinen sowie umweltrelevanten Stoffen bestimmt. Die Untersuchungen der Wasserproben aus den Jahren 2004 und 2005 ergaben, dass Proben, welche Ende Juli/Anfang August gewonnen wurden zu einer Reduktion der MTT-Spaltungsaktivität bei Bachforellen führten, was auf das Vorhandensein toxischer Stoffe hinweist.      «

The cause of the “brown trout disease” is still unknown to date. Because preceding investigations showed no transferability of this "illness", it was checked with MTT tests on the base of brown trout liver cells, Vero-and Hep2 cells, if toxic contents of the water of the Iller could be responsible. The sensitivity of the test system was investigated with 17 microbiological toxins as well as relevant environment materials. The investigations of the water tests from the years 2004 and 2005 proved that the water samples which were taken at the end of July / beginning of August are responsible for a reduction of the MTT-Splitting activity of brown trout cells. This points out that toxic materials are present.     «
